It was a hobby gone astray. In 1990 two friends got together weekly for
"Tuesday Night Woodworkers Club". Born of a desire for some
Adirondack chairs of their own, a plan was carried out to design and
build the best Adirondack chair.
16 would be the number initially made. But by the end of 1990, when the
demand (and their energy) had subsided, more than 100 additional
chairs had been built! And some foot rests, porch swings and really
cute kid's chairs for good measure!! Against temptation they did not
give up their day jobs!!!
The "Tuesday Night Woodworkers Club" went into hiatus while
the chairs sat out in the elements. On docks on the Chesapeake Bay, in
the sand of Pamlico Sound, on decks boldly facing Nor'easters on the
Outer Banks, on a canal out in Eastern Long Island, lakefront in
Pennsylvania, overlooking the Blue Ridge horizon of the Shenandoah
Valley, in back yards, screened-in porches and even one living room that
we know of ... since 1990 they have taken everything we, and Mother
Nature, have thrown at them. As
time passed it became obvious the chairs truly were built to last.
Repeated requests for more chairs could no longer be ignored. "Built
to Last" began full-time operations in early 1999. Since
then we've shipped to 47 states (including Hawaii), plus Norway,
Australia, Bermuda, Canada, Denmark, England, France, Sweden, Ireland,
Iceland and Spain. We introduced the original Built to Last Pastels just in time for Easter 2004. In January 2005 we began operating in our Moyock, NC location - on Hwy 168. We're under the water tower - come see us on your next trip to the Outer Banks. Built to Last is proud to guarantee your 100% satisfaction. We would love to add you to our growing list of happy customers. |
